Thermodynamically-stable formulations will never change.
Thermodynamically-unstable formulations will change. It’s only a matter of time.
Thermodynamics helps to understand formulations.
amofor offers formulation development for active ingredients in pharmaceutical, agrochemical, and life-science applications. We are specialized in formulations aiming at increasing the bioavailability of actives via salt formation, cocrystal formation, and amorphous formulations.
We established thermodynamic tools for designing physically-stable solid forms and formulations. Based on few key experiments, we are able to identify the best excipients for a new active ingredient. Our approach only requires a few hundred milligrams of the active ingredient and drastically reduces the number of experiments and the time required to design the best formulations and identify the right preparation methods.
Who we are
Prof. Gabriele Sadowski
holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry and is full Professor for Thermodynamics at TU Dortmund University since 2001. She is co-developer ofthe currently worldwide most-used thermodynamic model PC-SAFT.The main focus of her research is thermodynamics of complex systems with particular emphasis to those containing polymers and pharmaceutical molecules. She received numerous awards for her work, the most-prestigious one being the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Award of the German Science Foundation in 2011.
Dr. Christian Lübbert
studied chemical engineering at TU Dortmund University and finished his PhD in 2018. During his PhD, he successfully predicted the long-term stability of hundreds of pharmaceutical formulations via thermodynamic modeling. He developed methods to measure and to predict unwanted changes in ASDs during long-term storage, e.g. amorphous phase separation and crystallization. His work was awarded as the best German PhD thesis in thermodynamics in 2018. Moreover, he received the TU Dortmund PhD award.
